Richelle Gewertz

Job Captain

Richelle has a strong interest in preservation and is a resource in the office for navigating projects through historic district guidelines, zoning code refusals, as well as preparing materials for community review. She is currently working on an addition to a historic fire station in Somerville, MA. She is very service-oriented, in service of moving projects forward in fast-paced environments and in versatility to quickly adjust to whatever tasks are needed. She is diligent in ensuring that standards are being followed through, so she is relied on to represent quality in production and provide consistency in deliverables. Her proficiency in Revit/BIM includes rewriting advanced modeling systems and restructuring work processes to more effectively document and graphically visualize projects. She is a LEED accredited professional in Building Design and Construction and has also received The New School Parsons Healthier Materials and Sustainability Certificate which is a comprehensive understanding of the toxics present in common building materials and how they affect human and environmental health.

Prior to joining Context, Richelle worked at Elkus Manfredi Architects and interned at Philadelphia City Planning Commission. Her professional experience comprises of master planning, residential, food service, core and shell for life sciences, pedestrian bridge design as well as redevelopment and restoration of historic structures. She has also researched and prepared written nominations for significant resources that have led to at least two successful placements on the Philadelphia Register of Historic Places. She holds a Bachelor of Architecture with a minor in Writing from Syracuse University. Her thesis focused on reconsidering the dialectical condition between fabric and object in urban environments. Her writing courses included professional, technical and information design.

When not at Context, Richelle volunteers her time as a member of the Beacon Hill Civic Association Architecture and Zoning & Licensing Committees and as the President of the Beacon Hill Women’s Forum.
